Basketball Recap: Benedictine Comes Up Short

Benedictine had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 6-11 to make it seven. They fell just short of the Roanoke Catholic Celtics by a score of 50-47. If the Cadets were looking for revenge after losing 62-57 to the Celtics when the teams met back in January of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Roanoke Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points over those games.

Jayden Johnson produced another solid performance putting up 28 points. Another player making a difference was Leron Lipford, who posted 11 points.

Benedictine didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 61-56 defeat against Catholic on the 22nd. As for Roanoke Catholic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 63-56 victory against Harrisonburg HomeSchool on the 22nd.
