Basketball Recap: Ridge Community Bolts vs. McKeel Academy Wildcats
While it was all tied up 25-25 at halftime, the Ridge Community Bolts were not quite the McKeel Academy Wildcats's equal in the second half on Tuesday. Ridge Community took a 52-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. While losing is never fun, Ridge Community can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 477th, while the Wildcats are ranked 227th).
When it comes to explaining why Ridge Community lost, one person who can't be blamed is Siled Morris. Despite the final result, he scored ten points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Kobe Key, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Alex Sessoms continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for McKeel Academy, scoring 13 points along with six steals and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamal Whyte, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Ridge Community has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for McKeel Academy, their win bumped their record up to 14-6.
Ridge Community will stay at home for another game and welcome the Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th. Santa Fe Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matches -- so hopefully the Bolts like a good challenge. As for McKeel Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bell Creek Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 64.6 points per game this season.
