Baseball Recap: Thomas Jefferson Has No Trouble Against John Marshall

Thomas Jefferson's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They put the hurt on the John Marshall Justices with a sharp 11-2 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Vikings considering their one-run performance the game before.

Markus Ingram made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Ingram was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ben Coppola, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Randy Dillard was another key player, earning three RBI and one run.

Thomas Jefferson is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for John Marshall, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Thomas Jefferson will face off against Huguenot at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.88 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for John Marshall, they will challenge Meadowbrook at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Justices are facing the Monarchs at the right time seeing as the Monarchs are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
