Football Recap: Hanover Central Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Hanover Central can now relate to. They were outmatched by the Lowell Red Devils and fell 56-21. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-14.

Hanover Central lost on Friday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jacob Ferko, who picked up 134 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Hanover Central also got help from Vinnie Bonato, who showed off his sure hands for 111 receiving yards.

It was another big night for Brody Kalwinski, who rushed for 192 yards and two TDs on only 14 carries, and also threw for 116 yards and one touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes for Lowell. Those 192 rushing yards gave Kalwinski a new career-high.

Hanover Central has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Lowell, their record now sits at 8-2.

Hanover Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lowell, they will face off against East Chicago Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Red Devils will be up against the Cardinals' rather soft defense (which has allowed 36.6 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
