Softball Recap: Woodland Makes It Four in a Row at Home

Woodland had won four straight at home, but on Wednesday they bumped their record up to 10-6 to make it five. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Barnwell Warhorses. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 11-5 win on Friday.

Sara Grace Milligan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jordan Mccarthy, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Dallas LaChance was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

As for Barnwell, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since May 3, 2024.

On Barnwell's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Jaidyn Devore gave up three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Barnwell saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abigail Corley, who went 2-for-4 with one run.

As of now, neither Woodland nor the Warhorses have any future games scheduled.
