Baseball Recap: Tintic Takes a Loss

Tintic extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-3. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-9 heartbreaker at the hands of the Piute Thunderbirds. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Miners of the 11-10 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

Kelan Bigler led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Emmitt Despain was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double.

As for Piute, they now have a winning record of 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since September 18, 2024.

On Piute's side, Brodee Montague was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Montague was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Pendleton Bowler was a standout: he went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braige Beus, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.

Tintic didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 21-8 loss against Bryce Valley on the 9th. As for Piute, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, an 8-2 victory against Panguitch on the 9th.
