Aniston Norton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played.
Meanwhile, Maple Mountain hadn't done well against Spanish Fork recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Golden Eagles blew past the Dons 11-4. The Golden Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by six runs or more this season.
Gracie Jensen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on 11 hits.
At the plate, Maple Mountain let Chelsie Carter and Kyla Donegan run wild. Carter got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while Donegan went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Donegan has posted since back in March. Daphnee Pagano was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run and four RBI.
Maple Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They are 12-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Maple Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pleasant Grove, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 17-6.
Pleasant Grove's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. The Vikings have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Maple Mountain, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Pleasant Grove continue to outrun the ball?
Pleasant Grove beat Maple Mountain 7-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
