Baseball Recap: 18 Straight Home Victories for Union City

Union City's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They never let the Lookeba-Sickles Panthers get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tigers also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2023.

Union City got a great performance from Andrew Dennis as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Dennis has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mason Baker, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Aiden Williams was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Union City's win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lookeba-Sickles, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Union City has already played their next contest, a 7-4 win against Varnum on the 21st. As for Lookeba-Sickles, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Lookeba-Sickles Panthers face off against Carnegie Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Their pitchers better be ready for this one: Carnegie has averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season.
