Baseball Recap: Mason County Central Comes Up Short

Mason County Central fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against NorthPointe Christian on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 3-2. The Spartans' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Peyton Merz was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. He has become a key player for Mason County Central: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-5 otherwise. Jose Lopez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
