Football Game Preview: North Pole Patriots vs. Soldotna Stars + How To Watch

North Pole hasn't had much luck against Soldotna recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Patriots will take on the Stars at 2:00 p.m.

North Pole is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: West Valley, who was ranked eighth at the time (North Pole was ranked 11th). The Patriots took a 26-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolf Pack on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 31 points in the game before, the Patriots couldn't push the score so high this time.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Michael Putnam, who picked up 99 receiving yards and one score. He didn't just play on offense: he also made five total tackles and defended one pass in addition to snagging an interception.

North Pole didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Elijah Johnson and Putnam.

Meanwhile, Soldotna put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Lathrop by a score of 27-14. The 27-point effort marked the Stars' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

North Pole now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Soldotna, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.

North Pole suffered a grim 30-6 defeat to Soldotna in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
