Soccer Game Preview: Milton vs. Montpelier

The Milton Yellowjackets will challenge the Montpelier Solons on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Milton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Middlebury a 3-0 shutout.

Meanwhile, Montpelier made easy work of Missisquoi Valley on Tuesday and carried off a 7-0 victory. Given Montpelier's advantage in MaxPreps' Vermont soccer rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Missisquoi Valley are ranked 56th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Milton is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 21 goals over those six contests. As for Montpelier, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2-1.

Milton beat Montpelier 2-0 in their previous meeting back in November of 2021. Do the Yellowjackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Solons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
