Softball Recap: Reading Has No Trouble Against Mariemont

Reading's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Everything went their way against the Mariemont Warriors as they made off with a 10-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won eight in a row.

Kotah Brisbin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Brisbin was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Reading let Hailey Mowell and Lillie Riedmiller run wild. Mowell went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles, while Riedmiller went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those four hits gave Riedmiller a new career-high. Brooke Androne was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Reading was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mariemont only posted a batting average of .192.

Reading's record now sits at 10-4. As for Mariemont, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Coming up, Reading will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Bethel-Tate at 5:00 p.m. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Mariemont, they will head out to face off against Northwest at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
