Basketball Recap: Seth Rueter's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Whitmire over Newberry Academy

Whitmire was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 53-33 to Newberry Academy. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 49-40 last Tuesday.

Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Seth Rueter, who posted eight points. Freddy Higgins was another key player, putting up six points and eight rebounds.

Whitmire's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Newberry Academy, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whitmire will square off against Calhoun Falls Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Newberry Academy, they will face off against Richard Winn Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
