Baseball Recap: Labrae Has No Trouble Against Heartland Christian

LaBrae owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Heartland Christian Lions with a sharp 7-0 win. Considering the Vikings have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Austin Rowe made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because LaBrae is 8-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-2 otherwise. Rowe was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nathan Goldner, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Landon Brunstetter was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

LaBrae was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heartland Christian only posted a batting average of .167.

The victory made it two in a row for LaBrae and bumps their season record up to 9-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Heartland Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. LaBrae will take on Southeast at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Pirates' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
