Marcellus took a 16-run defeat the last time they faced off against Chittenango, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mustangs came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bears on Sunday, sneaking past 8-6. The victory was nothing new for the Mustangs as they're now sitting on six straight.
Kendall LaManche spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
On the hitting side, Maddy Richer and Jordan O'Connor did most of the damage at the plate: Richer went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while O'Connor got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. Marcellus pushed their record up to 11-2-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
