Baseball Game Preview: Salmen Spartans vs. Fisher Gators

The Salmen Spartans will square off against the Fisher Gators at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Salmen is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Salmen's offense. They lost 16-0 to South Lafourche on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Fisher won against Maurepas on Saturday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Fisher beat Benjamin Franklin by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 12-2. Considering the Gators have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Haiden Martin was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Charles Shamp, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season. Peyton Leblanc was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Fisher pushed their record up to 11-3-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Salmen, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12-2.
