Nathan Purvis commands the offense for Titans win

Recap: Thales Academy Apex Titans vs. Friendship Christian Falcons

The Thales Academy Apex Titans came tearing into Thursday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 73-56 win over Friendship Christian. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Thales Academy Apex got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nathan Purvis out in front who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Purvis hasn't dropped below 16 points for 14 straight games. Another player making a difference was Justin Brown, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Friendship Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eugene Amadi, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. Amadi hasn't dropped below 11 rebounds for five straight games. Liam Willis was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five steals.

Thales Academy Apex's win bumped their record up to 11-22. As for Friendship Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-8.

Thales Academy Apex and Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Averaging 60.27 points so far this season, Thales Academy Apex's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill better be ready for a challenge. As for Friendship Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Epiphany at 6:15 p.m. Epiphany is coming into the matchup with 11 straight defeats on the road, meaning Friendship Christian will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win.
