Baseball Recap: Huntland Victorious

After losing to Fayetteville the last time they met, Huntland decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Hornets had just enough and edged out the Tigers 11-10 on Thursday.

Rj Martin and Grant Jernigan did most of the damage at the plate: Martin scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Jernigan scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Jernigan has become a key player for Huntland: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Dickson, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Huntland is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Fayetteville, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.

Huntland has already played their next matchup (against Skyline), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Fayetteville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 10-0 victory against Tennessee Heat on the 15th.
