The Muir Mustangs will head out to square off against the Oxford Academy Patriots at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Muir's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Oxford Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Muir is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Arroyo on Monday as Muir made off with a 16-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won three matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
Gianna (GiGi) Butler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Muir got a massive performance out of Ariel (Shorty) Flores, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. The dominant performance gave Flores a new career-high in RBI. Erica Wallace was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.
Muir always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Oxford Academy's undefeated season came to an end after nine games on Saturday. They lost 11-2 to Trabuco Hills. The game marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Oxford Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Sierra, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Muir's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Oxford Academy, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 9-1.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Muir hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .411. However, it's not like Oxford Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .407. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
