Softball Game Preview: Mount Vernon Bulldogs vs. Lynden Lions

The Mount Vernon Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Lynden Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Mount Vernon's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five matchups.

Mount Vernon is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Ferndale just ended the team's ten-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 14-11 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Eagles.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Lynden was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They fell just short of Burlington-Edison by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Lions have suffered since April 20, 2024.

With the loss, Lynden broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-6. As for Mount Vernon, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 10-1 and their overall record down to 11-3.

Mount Vernon suffered a grim 13-7 defeat to Lynden in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
