Game recap: Brophy College Prep stuns Mountain Pointe

Mountain Pointe (Phoenix, Ariz.) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. one in Arizona, but was stunned by Brophy College Prep (Phoenix, Ariz.), 54-28. Brophy College Prep was ranked at No. seven in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Arizona coming into the week.

The Pride pulled ahead on a touchdown run by Garette Craig, and subsequently went into halftime leading 21-10. The Broncos scored the winning points with a touchdown run by Marche Dennard that came in the third quarter.

Brophy College Prep secured its victory by scoring 29 points in the fourth quarter to push the final margin to 26.

Craig made a difference for Mountain Pointe. The senior running back ran for one touchdown and caught two touchdowns. His performance brought his touchdown total to 12 on the year.

BCP's standout player in the win was Dennard. The senior running back ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored 12 touchdowns on the season.

MP came in giving up 15.2 points per game this season. The Pride struggled against the Broncos' offense, which entered the game scoring 38.2 points per game.



A 28-3 Brophy College Prep victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.

The defeat comes as a step back for Mountain Pointe, which notched a 28-27 victory over Chandler in its previous outing. With the win BCP extended its winning streak to three games.

Brophy College Prep (5-2) will play a non-conference game against Westview next week, while Mountain Pointe (5-1) will take on Corona del Sol also in a non-conference game.
