Basketball Recap: Surprise Valley Hornets vs. Plumas Charter Warriors
Surprise Valley lost against Plumas Charter back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Surprise Valley Hornets were dealt a 73-30 loss at the hands of the Plumas Charter Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1350th, while the Warriors are ranked 625th).
Surprise Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Wyatt Carpenter, who posted 12 points. Andrew Eichstadt was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds.
It was another big night for Dalton Bentz, who shot 5-for-8 from beyond the arc and dropped a triple-double on 30 points, 16 boards, and ten assists for Plumas Charter. That makes it four consecutive games in which Bentz has scored at least a third of Plumas Charter's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Taddei, who went 6 of 7 on his way to 13 points and eight rebounds.
Surprise Valley's loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Plumas Charter, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-2.
