Basketball Game Preview: South County Vipers vs. Pawnee Indians

South County is 9-1 against Pawnee since January of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The South County Vipers will host the Pawnee Indians at 6:30 p.m. South County is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

If South County beats Pawnee with 58 points on Monday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. South County sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 58-55 victory over Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Pawnee suffered their biggest defeat since December 17, 2024 on Friday. They had to suffer through a 73-45 loss at the hands of Calvary. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 576th, while the Saints are ranked 221st).

South County's win bumped their record up to 18-13. As for Pawnee, their loss dropped their record down to 8-20.

South County beat Pawnee 39-31 when the teams last played back in January. Will South County repeat their success, or does Pawnee have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
