Softball Game Preview: Spanish Fork Dons vs. Granger Lancers

For the second straight game, Spanish Fork will face off against Granger. The Dons will square off against the Lancers at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Spanish Fork has four straight wins, Granger has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Spanish Fork is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They never let Granger get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory.

Anaca Olsen looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April.

On the hitting side, Jade Romero was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Lia Higginson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Spanish Fork kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive contests.

Granger's loss dropped their record down to 5-19. As for Spanish Fork, their win bumped their record up to 15-12.

Granger's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Spanish Fork has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Granger, though, as they've been averaging only 3.6 strikeouts. Will Spanish Fork keep running through batters, or will the Lancers buck the trend?
