Mary Persons picks up 15th straight win at home

Recap: Mary Persons Bulldogs vs. Pike County Pirates

The Mary Persons Bulldogs stacked a sixth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They really took it to Pike County for the full four quarters, racking up a 71-41 win at home. The victory was familiar territory for Mary Persons who now have three in a row.

Leading Mary Persons to victory were Anaja Lucear and Zaria Wilson. Lucear dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Wilson scored 33 points along with six assists and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wilson has scored all season. Jataria Hardy was another key contributor, scoring three points along with nine steals.

Maliyah Holmes and Aubree Reese certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Holmes dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, while Reese scored seven points along with four steals. Holmes continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kerrah Foster, who scored five points along with two steals.

Pike County struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Mary Persons racked up 18 assists.

Mary Persons pushed their record up to 14-3 with that win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Pike County, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3.

Mary Persons will be playing at home against Lamar County at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lamar County will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak. As for Pike County, they will head out on the road to face off against Peach County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
