Softball Recap: Myers Park Comes Up Short

Myers Park came into this matchup off a tough seven-run loss last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Providence Panthers by a score of 7-5 on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost six in a row.

Reese Hautop was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooks Moody, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Myers Park now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Providence, they pushed their record up to 15-4 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Myers Park will welcome Olympic at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Providence, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Central Cabarrus at 5:30 p.m.
