Baseball Recap: Woodland Starts Season with Loss at Home

Woodland unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Bernie Mules on Tuesday, falling 17-4. The Cardinals haven't had much luck with the Mules recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Woodland saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ike Landewee, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

The victory was the third in a row for Bernie, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodland will host Greenville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Greenville's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Woodland's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Bernie, they will face off against Puxico at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
