Baseball Recap: 30 Straight Home Wins for Dewar

Dewar put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Kiowa Cowboys with a sharp 7-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

S. Yaeger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

In other batting news, AIDEN TOMLINSON and L. Hankins did most of the damage at the plate: TOMLINSON scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Hankins got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run. Those three runs gave TOMLINSON a new career-high. Another player making a difference was SKELLY TAYLOR, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Dewar's victory was their 30th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Kiowa, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Looking ahead, Dewar will be playing at home against Oktaha at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oktaha has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.67 runs per game on average), something Dewar will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Kiowa, they will be taking part in a tournament against Caddo at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
