Baseball Game Preview: Utica Chieftains vs. Grosse Pointe South Blue Devils

For the second straight game, Utica will face off against Grosse Pointe South. The Chieftains will welcome the Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Utica is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against Grosse Pointe South on Monday. They fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 2-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Chieftains in their meetings with the Blue Devils: they've now lost four in a row.

For Grosse Pointe South's part, Jack Danielewicz (Jack) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. Danielewicz (Jack) has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Dane Lezotte, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

The victory made it two in a row for Grosse Pointe South and bumps their season record up to 17-10. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Utica, their loss dropped their record down to 13-13.
