Basketball Game Preview: Conner Cougars vs. Covington Catholic Colonels

Conner hasn't had much luck against Covington Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Conner Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Covington Catholic Colonels at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

It was a proper cat-fight when Conner challenged Lawrenceburg on Saturday. Conner managed a 69-63 win over Lawrenceburg. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 41st in Kentucky, while the Tigers are ranked 154th in Indiana), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dixie Heights typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Covington Catholic proved too difficult a challenge. Everything went their way against Dixie Heights as they made off with a 79-53 victory. Covington Catholic has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Covington Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. As for Conner, their win bumped their record up to 17-7-1.

Conner suffered a grim 78-53 defeat to Covington Catholic in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Conner avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
