Baseball Recap: Esparto Comes Up Short

Esparto extended their losing streak to ten on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-10 in the process. They came up short against the Leroy Greene Academy Lions, falling 16-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-0 last Monday.

Esparto saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adrian Montesinos, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. Montesinos is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Landon Yanez was another, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Leroy Greene Academy, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-9. Considering they have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

On Leroy Greene Academy's side, they got a massive performance out of Juan Salazar, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most doubles Salazar has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ryan Nieto, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Esparto does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Leroy Greene Academy, they will take on Center at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
