South Salem put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 12-11 W against the Sheldon Irish. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Saxons, who until this contest were averaging three runs allowed.

South Salem got a massive performance out of Sawyer Nelson, who fired off two home runs and seven RBI while going 4-for-5. Those seven RBI gave Nelson a new career-high. Jackson Buckingham was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: South Salem kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.

South Salem pushed their record up to 29-0 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home. As for Sheldon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-13-1 record this season.
