Football Game Preview: Rice Consolidated Raiders vs. Brazos Cougars

The Rice Consolidated Raiders will head out on the road to challenge the Brazos Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rice Consolidated is looking for their season's first win.

Rice Consolidated is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against East Bernard on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Raiders lost 49-28 to the Brahmas. While the Raiders had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Brahmas 14-7.

Meanwhile, Brazos hadn't done well against Van Vleck recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Cougars simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Leopards 49-22. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won five matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.

Brazos' victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Rice Consolidated, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Everything went Rice Consolidated's way against Brazos in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Rice Consolidated made off with a 42-21 win. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
