Basketball Recap: Granville Central Takes a Loss

Granville Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 66-21 loss at the hands of the Vance County Vipers. The contest marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Vance County found their leader in sophomore Destiny Timberlake, who went 5 of 7 en route to 11 points and four steals. That's the most steals Timberlake has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nicola Thompson, who posted nine points.

Granville Central's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Vance County, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Granville Central and South Granville will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday without much rest having both just played. As for Vance County, they will head out to challenge Warren County at 6:00 p.m. on January 15th.
