Basketball Recap: Maize Piles Up the Points Against Eisenhower

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Maize's strategy against Eisenhower on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Maize Eagles blew the Eisenhower Tigers out of the water with a 60-31 final score. That 29 point margin sets a new team best for the Eagles this season.

Leading Maize to victory were Brayden Myovela and Alec Grill. Myovela went 7 for 9 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds, while Grill dropped a double-double on ten points and ten assists. Ty Willits was another key player, putting up eight points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Maize was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eisenhower only racked up nine assists.

Despite the loss, Eisenhower still got an impressive performance from Pierce Blue, who posted 11 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cohen Ho, who had four points.

The win made it two in a row for Maize and bumps their season record up to 4-2. As for Eisenhower, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Maize Eagles challenge the Heights Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Heights is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.4 points per game this season. As for Eisenhower, they will welcome Goddard at 7:25 p.m. on Friday.
