Baseball Recap: Blount Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Blount ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Murphy Panthers 7-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Leopards.

John Armstead made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only one hit. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on John Cox, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.

Blount's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 3-5. As for Murphy, they are on a 25-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-18.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Blount beat Murphy by a score of 9-2 later that day.
