Baseball Game Preview: SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars vs. Seaforth Hawks

The SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars will square off against the Seaforth Hawks on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as SouthWest Edgecombe comes in on three and Seaforth on 13.

SouthWest Edgecombe is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand St. Pauls a 1-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by just one run.

Not much got past Jaelyn McLean, who gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks to keep St. Pauls off the board. McLean has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, SouthWest Edgecombe saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derrick Davis, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Seaforth beat Fairmont 4-1 on Friday.

Seaforth's victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for SouthWest Edgecombe, their victory bumped their record up to 16-7.
