Baseball Recap: Mountain Pine Triumphs

Mountain Pine took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against Murfreesboro, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Red Devils sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Rattlers on Wednesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Red Devils as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Chris Morgan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Aidan Putman was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Jace Beals, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Mountain Pine's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Murfreesboro, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-6.

Coming up, Mountain Pine will square off against Foreman at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Gator Arkansas have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.67 runs per game on average), something the Red Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Murfreesboro, they will be playing at home against Malvern at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Leopards will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Rattlers surely won't give up without a fight.
