Baseball Game Preview: Gompers Prep Academy Eagles vs. Victory Christian Academy Knights

The Gompers Prep Academy Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Victory Christian Academy Knights at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Gompers Prep Academy has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Victory Christian Academy will arrive with four straight wins.

Gompers Prep Academy couldn't beat High Tech Mesa on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fourth inning. The Eagles came up short against the Thunder, falling 20-4.

Gompers Prep Academy saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marco M, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Diego Mendoza also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Victory Christian Academy and High Tech NC, and Victory Christian Academy kept the tradition alive. The Knights walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Raptor on Tuesday.

Tristen Pflueger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Victory Christian Academy is 2-1 when Pflueger allows one or fewer earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Pflueger was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Max Gardner was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 11 times he's played.

Gompers Prep Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Victory Christian Academy, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
