Basketball Recap: Woodrow Wilson's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

If Woodrow Wilson was riding high fresh off their 102-39 takedown of Compton last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Woodrow Wilson Bruins fell to the Millikan Rams 67-63. While losing is never fun, the Bruins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 393rd, while the Rams are ranked 182nd).

Millikan was led to victory by Tariq Bridges and Joseph Wicker. Bridges dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 boards, while Wicker went 8 for 12 on his way to 22 points. The dominant performance gave Bridges a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Hunt, who posted ten points and seven boards.

Woodrow Wilson's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-14. As for Millikan, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodrow Wilson will welcome Long Beach Poly at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Long Beach Poly knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully Woodrow Wilson likes a good challenge. As for Millikan, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Lakewood at 7:00 p.m. Millikan is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.8 points per game this season.
