Basketball Recap: Spanish River Takes a Loss

Spanish River suffered their closest loss since November 18th on Friday. They fell just short of the Atlantic Eagles by a score of 40-37. The defeat continues a trend for the Sharks in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the loss, Spanish River saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Briella DaSilva dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points DaSilva has scored all season.

Taylor Pierre continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Atlantic, putting up 20 points. Kayla Sullard was another key player, posting nine points.

Spanish River's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Atlantic, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4.

After both having extra time off, Spanish River and South Plantation will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 1:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Atlantic, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Grandview Prep at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
