Football Recap: Nate Oldehoeft and Jedd Ramold Lead the Defense for Mount Michael Benedictine Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Mount Michael Benedictine had no problem doing just that on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 28-14 win over the O'Neill Eagles. The Knights pushed the score to 28-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles cut but never quite recovered from.

Brady Quinlivan produced another solid effort picking up 44 receiving yards and one TD, while also rushing for 34 yards. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making six total tackles and defending two passes. Mount Michael Benedictine also got a significant boost from Jedd Ramold, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 97 yards.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 14 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Quinlivan, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Mount Michael Benedictine didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Nate Oldehoeft and Ramold. Ramold got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Despite the loss, O'Neill still got an impressive performance from Turner Heiss, who rushed for 33 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 200 yards on 18 of 33 attempts.

Mount Michael Benedictine is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for O'Neill, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-2.

Mount Michael Benedictine didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 55-14 defeat against Wahoo on the 7th. O'Neill does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
