After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bishop, Raymondville was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Everything went their way against the Santa Gertrudis Academy Lions as the Raymondville Bearkats made off with a 29-9 victory. The Bearkats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 20 points or more this season.

Raymondville had a senior duo take command as Luis De La Paz threw for 181 yards and two touchdowns while completing 82.4% of his passes and Chris Gonzalez picked up 84 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Gonzalez also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making three total tackles and defending a pass.

One reason for the win was Raymondville's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 4.5 sacks. Leading the way was Brian Nunez with two. He also set a new season high mark in total tackles with 11. Raymondville got some further help from Matthew Jimenez: he made 20 total tackles (1.0 for loss).
