Volleyball Preview: Lakeside Dragons vs. Geneva Eagles

Lakeside and Geneva are an even 5-5 against one another since August of 2019, but not for long. The Lakeside Dragons will host the Geneva Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakeside is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

Lakeside came up short against Cornerstone Christian on Monday, falling 3-0.

While Lakeside had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 14 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 26-24, 25-14.

Meanwhile, Geneva came up short against Jefferson Area on Thursday and fell 3-1. The Eagles have struggled against the Falcons recently, as their game on Thursday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

While Geneva ultimatly came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-18, 22-25, 25-20, 25-18.

Despite the defeat, Geneva had strong showings from Kailyn Cerjan, who had 20 digs and 19 assists, and Cora Brace, who had 29 digs and two aces. Brace has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madisen Kemp, who had 24 digs.

Even though they lost, Geneva kept the net locked down and finished the game with ten blocks. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now had at least five blocks in ten consecutive matchups.
