League recap: Sun Valley climbs in state rankings with win

Sun Valley moved up to 44 from 82 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A/3A Southern Carolina. A 56-28 win over Anson helped the Spartans improve their standing.

Porter Ridge extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Marvin Ridge, 21-14. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.

Bunyon Tyson put up the best numbers through the air as the Bearcats fell to Sun Valley. He finished with 11 completions for 132 yards and two touchdowns. Tyson's favorite target this week was Allen Campbell, who caught four passes for 75 yards.

Sam Mobley was the best wideout in the league this week as Parkwood lost to Weddington. Mobley tallied nine receptions for 99 yards. Max Robinson helped Parkwood's passing attack out by catching three balls for 14 yards.

Chris Duffy was the most productive running back in 4A/3A Southern Carolina this week. In 19 carries, he ran for 140 yards as Porter Ridge lost to the Warriors. Chris Rathbone also contributed to the rushing game with 53 yards on the ground.

Parkwood's Grey Wyrick and Mobley have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Wyrick has thrown for 979 yards this season, while Mobley, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 31 catches for 568 yards. Blair Hardin's team's Duffy leads the league in rushing yards with 729.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Anson takes on Weddington. At the moment, Luke Hyatt's team is in fifth, while the Warriors are in second.

Weddington took down the Rebels 35-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
