Volleyball Recap: Pershing County Comes Up Short

Pershing County lost against Yerington back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Mustangs came up short against the Lions, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Mustangs have suffered against the Lions since October 7, 2022.

Pershing County was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The final score came out to 25-10, 25-23, 25-17.

Their offense was headlined by Laura Gomez and Jaymie George, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Mia Canchola and her nine assists. George also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Khloe Montes, each putting up two.

Pershing County dropped their record down to 7-12 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Yerington, the victory was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-3.

Coincidentally, Pershing County and Yerington will both be playing Silver Stage the next time they take the court. The Lions will host the Nighthawks at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Mustangs will head out to face them at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
