Basketball Game Preview: Lejeune Devil Pups vs. Swansboro Pirates

Lejeune is 2-8 against Swansboro since November of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Lejeune Devil Pups will welcome the Swansboro Pirates at 6:00 p.m.

Lejeune is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against North Duplin on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Lejeune took a blow against North Duplin, falling 51-14. The Devil Pups were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-6.

Meanwhile, Swansboro entered their tilt with Havelock on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Rams by a score of 36-28.

Swansboro found their leader in sophomore Addison King, who posted nine points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Those four steals gave King a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mattie Floyd, who put up six points and five rebounds.

Swansboro's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-3. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.3 points per game. As for Lejeune, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Lejeune took a serious blow against Swansboro in their previous matchup back in November, falling 56-6. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of King, who went 7 of 12 on her way to 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.
