Softball Recap: Royal Drops Season-High Score on Huntington Beach

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Royal). They blew past the Huntington Beach Oilers 13-7 on Thursday. For the Highlanders, this counts as revenge for the 3-0 win the Oilers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2022.

Royal got a massive performance out of Mikaela Jones, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those three hits gave Jones a new career-high. Josephine Gallo also deserves some recognition as she hit her first doubles of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Royal kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.

Royal's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Huntington Beach, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-6.

Royal wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-5 win against Dos Pueblos on the 24th. As for Huntington Beach, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-4 loss against Thousand Oaks on the 24th.
