Basketball Recap: Union Colony Prep Takes a Loss

Union Colony Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Dayspring Christian Academy Eagles and fell 58-23. If the Timberwolves were looking for revenge after losing 54-8 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Soliana Gebremeskel was Union Colony Prep's leading scorer, having posted 11 points. Gebremeskel also led the team in rebounds with ten. Jaelynn Valdez took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Dayspring Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Hadley Bonnell, who dropped a double-double on ten rebounds and 13 steals. Those ten boards set a new season-high mark for Bonnell. Another player making a difference was Brynnli Bryson, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine steals.

Union Colony Prep's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.

Union Colony Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 43-37 defeat against SkyView Academy on the 23rd. As for Dayspring Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Denver Christian at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
