Baseball Recap: Chapman Starts Season with Win on the Road

Chapman had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They never let the Herington Railroaders get on the board and left with a 19-0 victory.

Cooper Lewis and Jed Moody made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Lewis pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Moody pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low. At bat, Lewis scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Moody got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Aven Woods and Cade Hanney did most of the damage at the plate: Woods got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Hanney scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Hanney a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Levi Willmann, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Herington is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Chapman will have a chance to go back-to-back against Herington: the pair will be back at it again later today.
